House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries to Headline DFL Party’s 11th Annual Humphrey-Mondale Dinner

03/27/2023

Today, the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party is proud to announce House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries will headline the DFL Party’s 11th annual Humphrey-Mondale Dinner on Saturday, May 6th, 2023.

Tickets for the dinner are available at www.humphreymondaledinner.com.

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, having been unanimously elected to that position by his colleagues in November 2022, is the highest-ranking Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives and the first Black American to lead a party in any chamber of Congress. Leader Jeffries has proudly served the people of New York’s Eighth Congressional District for a decade. In Congress, Leader Jeffries helped develop the For the People agenda. He is a tireless advocate for social and economic justice, and has worked relentlessly to improve the economy for everyday Americans and protect our healthcare from right-wing attacks.

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement:

“I am honored to address the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party’s 2023 Humphrey Mondale Dinner this spring. The path to a House Democratic majority runs through Minnesota. We are fortunate that the DFL Party knows how to win tough fights against long odds, and I look forward to visiting Minnesota to ensure the DFL has the resources it needs to win up and down the ballot next November.”

DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin released the following statement:

“I am delighted to welcome House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries to Minnesota for the DFL Party’s 11th annual Humphrey Mondale Dinner. As the first Black American in our nation’s history to lead their party in Congress, Leader Jeffries’ historic career in public service embodies America’s highest aspirations: to be a land where all are truly equal.

“Advancing the cause of justice, fairness, and equality across America has been a hallmark of Leader Jeffries’ work in Congress, from his passage of the First Step Act, a key bipartisan criminal justice reform initiative, to his leadership on affordable housing, voting rights, healthcare access and more. The drive to build a more just and fair Minnesota has also been a guiding principle of the DFL Party since our founding, and I look forward to Leader Jeffries’ speech to DFL leaders and activists about how we can win in 2024 and continue to build upon our legacy of progress.”
