DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin issued the following statement after the Senate voted to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court:

“The confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court is a historic moment for our nation. As the most qualified person ever to be nominated to the Supreme Court, Judge Jackson is more than prepared to serve our nation and hit the ground running. Millions of young black girls now know there is one less glass ceiling to be broken thanks to Judge Jackson who is paving the way.

“As the daughter of public school teachers and as a former public defender, Judge Jackson will bring an incredibly important perspective to the highest court in the nation. Her confirmation is a testament to the promise of the American Dream – that anyone can rise to the top through hard work, perseverance, and playing by the rules. Judge Jackson’s appointment will help to ensure justice is afforded equally to all throughout the nation. I commend Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith for voting to confirm Judge Jackson and I await with pride the day she is sworn in and we can call her Justice Jackson.”
