DFL Caucus Night
Is DFL Caucus Night in-person this year?
Under Minnesota state statute, the Minnesota DFL Precinct Caucus is in-person on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, starting at 7:00 PM. Senate District 59 DFL is the Organizing Unit for our area, and we will have a number of “hub” locations across the district with multiple precincts together, with experienced volunteers to help our DFL Caucus Conveners.
What if I am not able to attend in-person?
One way that you can make DFL Caucus Night a better experience is by completing our Caucus Pre-Registration and Non-Attendee Form. If you attend in-person, this form will keep a complete record of your contact information. If you don’t make caucus night, this form acts as a backup Non-Attendee Form to afford an opportunity to become a Delegate or Alternate if seats are available. This form closes on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 7:00 PM.
Can I help organize my local DFL Caucus Night?
A second way you can help make DFL Caucus Night engage more neighbors is by becoming a DFL Convener. You will receive training from the Minnesota DFL and learn how to set up, run your Caucus, and compile information to follow up with attendees.
Senate District 59 DFL Convention
Is our Convention in-person this year?
With a recent Minnesota DFL State Central Committee bylaw amendment, all DFL endorsing conventions are in-person unless excepted under extraordinary circumstances.
What if I am not able to attend in-person?
Unfortunately, the only way to participate, vote as delegate or upgraded alternate, or be elected a State Delegate is to attend and participate in-person.

2022 Virtual Convention
On Friday, March 4, 2022, the Senate District 59 DFL Executive Committee voted to move to a virtual convention.
On Saturday, April 9, 2022, the Convention was held virtually within a Zoom meeting as required by Minnesota DFL rules. Delegates and alternates received a post mailed Official Call postcard with their delegate status and their ballot number. Most votes for this convention were held by acclamation, but one ballot was needed for resolutions. This was the first all-virtual convention to endorse for all contests, elect party officers, and elect state delegates, with a walking subcaucus, all in one day virtually without the risk of covid. At least three delegates who participated were covid-positive and recovering well at home.
