Job Opening

Community Organizer

Minnesota DFL Community Organizer

The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party is seeking individuals to join our team as a Community Organizer and become an integral part of the team to elect Democrats up and down the ballot.

As a Community Organizer, you will stand at the forefront of our path to victory, inspiring and mobilizing individuals to actively shape their communities and take part in building up our party, ahead of the crucial 2026 election.

Community Organizers are on the Organizing Team. Positions will be remote work, with travel throughout assigned turf. We will be accepting applications through May 7, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement: Build strong connections with DFL party leaders, elected officials/candidates, activists, and volunteers in the assigned community.
    • Be prepared to dive deeper into communities than in a traditional electoral campaign: find out where the morning coffee crew meets up to talk about politics, build relationships with the grassroots organization leaders who are already organizing in the community, find out who wants to run for school board, and learn which student groups want to be more involved (and so much more!)
  • Volunteer Training: Train and empower volunteers with the skills and knowledge to grow the DFL message.
  • Event Planning: Organize and execute listening sessions, house parties, town halls, or other events that bring DFL’ers together and growing our base.
  • Volunteer Recruitment: Recruit volunteers to join events to amplify our grassroots efforts. Field organizers will spend time making phone calls to prospective volunteers to invite them to events, but they will also attend local candidate/party events, or meet prospective volunteers in other progressive spaces to recruit people into activism with the MN DFL.
  • Direct Voter Contact: At times, execute direct voter contact programs to increase DFL support.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of voter and volunteer contact information and engagement activities. Utilize data to inform decisions and measure the impact of outreach efforts.
  • Represent the DFL: Serve as the local representative for the DFL within the community you are assigned.
  • Other Duties: as assigned by supervisor, Coordinated Campaign leadership, Executive Director, or Chair.

Requirements:

  • Strong desire to support and elect all of our DFL endorsed candidates.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed goals
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including some nights and weekends
  • Proficiency with Google Docs, and Excel

Preferred but not required:

  • Minnesota experience or ties to the state.
  • Previous experience in grassroots organizing or political campaigns is a plus.
