ST PAUL – Today, the Minnesota DFL Party released the following statement after the entire Minnesota GOP delegation in Congress – Reps. Tom Emmer, Brad Finstad, Michelle Fischbach, and Pete Stauber – voted for the largest cuts to Medicaid and SNAP in history to pay for massive tax cuts for billionaires. The budget passed by a one vote margin of 215-214.
“On Donald Trump’s orders, every single Minnesota Republican in Congress cast deciding votes for the largest cuts to Medicaid and food assistance in history while providing massive tax giveaways to billionaires,” said Minnesota DFL Chair Richard Carlbom. “If this bill becomes law, it will take away thousands of Minnesotans’ health care and take food off families’ tables – all to give tax handouts to the top 1%.”
“Any member of the Minnesota Republican delegation could have stood up for our state’s working families and stopped this bill. Instead, they sided with Donald Trump and his billionaire backers. Over the next 18 months, the DFL will be sure that Minnesotans have the knowledge and tools they need to fight for working families and hold every one of them accountable at the ballot box.”
