DFL Denounces GOP Bills Attacking Paid Family & Medical Leave

ST PAUL – Today, the Minnesota DFL Party released the following statement ahead of Minnesota House Republicans’ planned vote to delay Minnesota’s paid family and medical leave program. Republicans have introduced another bill that would outright repeal the program before it can take effect and start helping Minnesota families in 2026.

“Republicans are trying to delay Minnesota’s paid leave program until after the next election so that they can repeal it entirely,” said Minnesota DFL Executive Director Heidi Kraus Kaplan. “We will hold every Republican on the ballot accountable for trying to force Minnesotans to choose between their paycheck and caring for a newborn or a sick family member. From scrapping paid leave to gutting Medicaid, Republicans are obsessed with destroying programs that support thousands of Minnesota families.”

According to non-partisan polling, 61% of Minnesotans support the paid family and medical leave law.
