DFL Blasts MNGOP Bill to Repeal Paid Family & Medical Leave Program

ST PAUL – Today, the Minnesota DFL Party released the following statement after Minnesota House Republicans introduced a bill that would repeal Minnesota’s paid family and medical leave program before it can take effect and start helping Minnesota families in 2026.

“Minnesota Republicans are determined to shred programs that help working-class Minnesotans while cutting taxes for the ultra-wealthy,” said Minnesota DFL Executive Director Heidi Kraus Kaplan. “Scrapping this program before it even gets off the ground would force Minnesotans to choose between their paycheck and caring for a newborn or a sick family member. That’s why an overwhelming majority of Minnesotans support the paid family and medical leave law, and we will hold Republicans accountable for trying to repeal it.”

According to non-partisan polling, 61% of Minnesotans support the paid family and medical leave law.
