Jensen’s exact words were: “Why do we have litter boxes in some of the school districts so kids can pee in them, because they identify as a furry? We’ve lost our minds.”
On Thursday, Minnesota Republican gubernatorial nominee Scott Jensen fully embraced the baseless conspiracy theory that Minnesota public schools are providing litter boxes for students who identify as “furries” to urinate in.
Jensen’s exact words were: “Why do we have litter boxes in some of the school districts so kids can pee in them, because they identify as a furry? We’ve lost our minds.”
The video clip of Jensen’s relevant remarks is available here and a full Facebook live video is available here (the relevant clip begins at 1:20).
The hoax Jensen has bought into – that MN school districts have set up litter boxes because of pro-furry liberal radicalism – has created headaches for MN school districts who have had to refute these unfounded claims that seem to have originated on social media.
“Scott Jensen is a dangerous conspiracy theorist who can’t be trusted to lead our public schools,” said DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin. “Undermining our schools with lies about litter boxes and furries is disqualifying for any candidate running for governor. Unfortunately, it’s also not surprising coming from a man who promised to defund public schools and turn them into private schools.”
Earlier this year, Minnesota Republican legislators pushed this baseless internet hoax. Jensen is now one of the highest profile public figures in the country to push this baseless conspiracy theory.
