Scott Jensen Refuses to Answer Whether 2020 Election Was Legitimate

Today, October 21, DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin released the following statement after Republican nominee for Minnesota governor Scott Jensen refused to answer the WCCO voter guide question about whether he believes that President Biden was “legitimately elected” in 2020.

When asked “Do you believe Joe Biden is the legitimately elected President of the United States?”, Jensen would only say “Joe Biden is our president” – a dodge employed by Republican candidates across the country who refuse to reject the Big Lie, including Marjorie Taylor GreeneBlake Masters, and Mike Lee.

“Refusing to reject the Big Lie is disqualifying for a candidate running for any office, especially for governor,” said Martin. “Election deniers like Scott Jensen and Kim Crockett have become the face of the Minnesota Republican Party. Defeating them is imperative for safeguarding the 2024 presidential election.”

Jensen is joined on the Republican ticket by Secretary of State candidate and Big Lie proponent Kim Crockett, who has said she might not acknowledge the legitimacy of the 2022 election if she loses and has questioned whether non-English speakers and people with disabilities should be able to vote.
