DFL Party Statement on the Passing of Robert Latz

04/22/2022

DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin released the following statement on the passing of former DFL Party State Representative Bob Latz:

“I was deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of Bob Latz. My heart goes out to his family, his loved ones, and all the Minnesotans that Bob helped in his long life of service to his community. May his memory be a blessing during these difficult times.

“Bob was an institution within the DFL Party, serving four terms in the State House and running as the DFL Party-endorsed candidate for Attorney General. He dedicated his life to combating prejudice wherever he saw it, from employment discrimination based on race or gender to religious intolerance and anti-Semitism to attacks on the rights of working people. Bob wrote and was instrumental in passing Minnesota’s Fair Housing Law, and his successful litigation of numerous employment discrimination cases was groundbreaking. Bob’s courage, empathy, and drive to lift up his fellow Minnesotans embodied the best in our party and our state. I know Bob’s legacy will continue to inspire so many throughout Minnesota to carry on his work of breaking down barriers to happiness, opportunity, and the American dream wherever we find them.”
