Last night, it was revealed that Doug Wardlow is hosting a fundraiser with MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, who infamously urged Donald Trump to use the United States military to forcefully stay in power by invoking the Insurrection Act and declaring martial law.

DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin released the following statement: 

“If it was up to Mike Lindell, the United States would be a military dictatorship, not a democracy. The fact that Doug Wardlow would host a fundraising event alongside Lindell, an honest-to-goodness traitor to American democracy, should completely disqualify Wardlow from serving as Attorney General. Before we are Republicans or Democrats, we are Americans, and the sanctity of our democracy must be above partisan politics.”

Background:

• After the 2020 elections, Mike Lindell did more than almost any American to undermine the results of the elections and erode faith in American democracy.
  • Lindell funded the “Women For America First” bus tour, which was one of the largest and best-funded efforts to bring Trump supporters to D.C. on January 6th for a rally, which ultimately descended into the assault on the U.S. Capitol.
    • Before January 6th, the  “Women For America First” bus tour spent weeks traveling the country promoting the lie that the election was stolen from Donald Trump.
  • Lindell held a multi-day Cyber Symposium claiming to show clear evidence of voter fraud that failed to produce any evidence whatsoever.
  • Lindell produced a documentary called “Absolute Proof” claiming to show evidence of voter fraud that failed to demonstrate any evidence whatsoever.
  • Lindell’s own cyber-security expert has said Lindell has found no evidence of fraud.
