100 Days, 200 Million Shots in Arms
This week, specifically Thursday, April 29th, will mark President Joe Biden’s 100th day in office. To commemorate this, the DFL Party will spend the week highlighting various accomplishments of the start of Biden’s presidency. Today, the party is highlighting Biden’s successful efforts at battling COVID-19.
When Joe Biden took office, he announced the ambitious goal of delivering 100 vaccine million shots in the arms of the American people by the 100th day of his presidency. Biden met that goal after just 58 days in office, so he increased it to 200 million.
Last week, Biden exceeded that goal as well. As things stand, more than 200 million vaccine doses have been distributed across the U.S. and over half of all eligible Minnesotans and Americans overall have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin released the following statement championing the Biden Administration’s ongoing success in the battle against COVID-19:
“The American people elected President Biden to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic and that’s exactly what he’s doing. President Biden gave U.S. vaccination efforts a shot in the arm after inheriting a virtually non-existent vaccination program from Donald Trump and the results are clear: the United States went from vaccinating less than a million people a day before Biden took office to over three million people a day.
“The United States’ tremendous success in getting people vaccinated is thanks to President Biden’s strong leadership and the historic COVID-19 bill he got passed, the American Rescue Plan. President Biden is delivering on his promises to the American people and his ongoing success in the battle against COVID-19 is getting America back on track.”
