St. Paul – The Minnesota DFL Veterans and Military Families Caucus voted unanimously to endorse the Democratic ticket of Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz for President and Vice President of the United States of America.
“The Harris-Walz administration will take the lead on standing against the ravages that Project 2025 is projecting that will decimate the benefits our veterans have earned through their service,” said Minnesota DFL Veterans Caucus Endorsement Chair Joel Heller. “This future administration will also lead the efforts to support reproductive healthcare coverage for our female veterans, which the GOP is fighting to decimate. The DFL Veterans Caucus are proud to stand with Vice President Harris and Governor Walz to lead our country forward.”
Vice President Harris is committed to serving veterans and military families. The Biden-Harris administration has delivered record expansion of veterans’ health care, achieved a record-low veteran unemployment rate, and protected veterans’ rights and freedoms, including by expanding reproductive services through the VA.
A veteran himself, Governor Walz was a leader in the U.S House’s effort to pass bipartisan legislation to increase mental health services and support for veterans, led in a bipartisan effortto extend and improve the GI Bill, and repeatedly voted to increase military funding.
In stark contrast, Donald Trump called our fallen service members who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect and defend America “suckers” and “losers” and proposed cutting $3.2 billion from a program for disabled veterans, while handing out tax giveaways to billionaires and big corporations. Trump and running mate JD Vance’s Project 2025 agenda would strip benefits from our veterans, rather than honoring their service – threatening to privatize and tank the quality of service members’ health care and cut disability benefits.
