Coordinated Campaign Regional Organizing Director for Voter Protection

The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party is hiring full-time Coordinated Campaign Regional Organizing Directors (RODs) to join the Voter Protection team for the 2024 election cycle. This position is for someone with some campaign experience who is enthusiastic about supporting the program’s mission: ensuring that every eligible Minnesota voter can cast their ballot safely, securely, and without interference.

As a Voter Protection ROD you will be working with the Voter Protection Director and Deputy Voter Protection Directors to support our mission. This position will assist in developing and maintaining programmatic elements of the DFL’s statewide voter protection efforts, recruiting and managing relationships with volunteers, and tracking key metrics for reporting to senior staff. We are seeking someone who is ready to build leadership skills, take ownership of key program elements, and deeply believes in the critical civil rights work of Voter Protection.

Voter Protection RODs will report directly to a Deputy Voter Protection Director. This position is based out of DFL Headquarters in Saint Paul. Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis.


  • Provide support and training for one or more key Voter Protection programs: poll challengers, local liaisons, and hotline operators.
  • Recruit and train volunteers for all programs, with support from other Voter Protection staff.
  • Communicate timely, relevant, and accurate information about elections to voters and volunteers.
  • Work with DFL Coalitions to provide voter education opportunities in communities that have been targeted for voter suppression.
  • Identify potential threats to voter protection and assist in organizing a coordinated response within the DFL.
  • Use Lawyers Bound for Justice (LBJ), VAN/Votebuilder, Google Forms, and other database tools to monitor voting issues and coordinate volunteers.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Voter Protection Director, Coordinated Campaign Director, Executive Director, and/or Party Chair.


  • At least one cycle of electoral campaign experience as a staff member or volunteer
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle.
  • Self-motivator with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Organized and thorough with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills with both managers and team members.
  • Supports the DFL’s goal to elect Democrats up and down the ticket.

Preferred but not required:

  • Minnesota experience or ties to the state
  • Familiarity with Minnesota election laws and procedures
  • Familiarity with VAN/Votebuilder and LBJ
  • Experience managing volunteers

Compensation: This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement between the Minnesota DFL Party and IBEW Local 292. Employees in this position will receive $2,538.46 on a bi-weekly basis and receive a competitive benefits package including health care and dental.
