Coordinated Campaign Apartments Canvasser

Overview:

The DFL Coordinated Campaign seeks enthusiastic, passionate candidates for the role of door to door canvasser. Employment is through Election Day.

Electioneering happens person to person, door to door. This position is the front line in connecting with people who are conflicted about whether to vote or conflicted about who to vote for. Through conversation, canvassers will work to find a path forward with each voter where we can take action together for a shared vision of the future.

We provide training on how to have these effective relational conversations as well as the supporting materials necessary to make your work a success. We’ll provide transportation from a work site to the canvass location and back to the work site each day.

Compensation:

This position pays $25.00 per hour and can be either part time or full time. Full time availability is preferred.

For full time workers, health care benefits and other benefits available to all full time DFL employees are available.

Responsibilities:

Full Time Coordinated Campaign Canvassers will be responsible for 40 hours of work per week. 30 hours per week will be door to door voter contact. The other 10 hours per week will be transit, training, and breaks.

Preferred Experience:

Ideal candidates will have experience keeping their cool when someone says something they don’t like, being a good listener, adjusting their message to their audience, connecting with others. Experience that often helps with these skills includes: retail experience, experience in therapy environments, volunteer experience with campaigns, sales experience, call center experience, etc.

  • No education requirement.
  • This position is an entry level position and there are no specific certification or previous work requirements.
  • This position will report to the Apartment Program Director or Deputy Apartment Program Director.

COVID Addendum: While many meetings and events can still happen virtually or over the phone, organizers will be expected to work in-person, within reason and with safety precautions in place, at events in the community. This means that the prospective staff will need to live in the area in the state that they are applying for.
