Coordinated Campaign Apartment Organizer

Overview:

The DFL Coordinated Campaign seeks enthusiastic, passionate candidates for the Apartment Organizer. Electioneering happens person to person, door to door. This position will support front line door to door canvassers in gaining access to residents of multi-unit housing, such as apartments, condos, etc.

We will provide training on how to perform the tasks required in this job which will primarily be fielding requests from candidates and campaigns and contacting apartment managers to facilitate coordinated canvass times so apartment managers will be present to let the candidates and their campaign volunteers in.

 

Compensation:

This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement between the Minnesota DFL Party and IBEW Local 292. Compensation is an $18.50 base hourly rate with overtime at 1.5 times the hourly rate above 40 hours in a week. Equivalent salary is $2035/bi-weekly pay period, for a 50 hour work week.  Staff at the DFL are paid on a bi-weekly basis and receive a competitive benefits package including health care and dental.

 

Responsibilities:

Coordinated Campaign Apartment Organizer will be responsible for scheduling appointments with apartments on behalf of organizers, campaigns, and candidates. This is a 40+ hour per week salaried job with some responsibilities outside of typical office hours, including weekends and evenings.

 

Preferred Experience:

Ideal candidates will have experience keeping their cool when someone says something they don’t like, being a good listener, adjusting their message to their audience, connecting with others. Experience that often helps with these skills includes: retail experience, experience in therapy environments, volunteer experience with campaigns, sales experience, call center experience, etc.

  • No education requirement.
  • This position is an entry level position and there are no specific certification or previous work requirements.
  • This position will report to the Apartment Program Director.

 

COVID Addendum: While many meetings and events can still happen virtually or over the phone, organizers will be expected to work in-person, within reason and with safety precautions in place, at events in the community. This means that the prospective staff will need to live in the area in the state that they are applying for.
