Coalitions & Engagement Liaison

Position Overview:

The DFL is hiring a team of Coalition & Engagement Liaison to work on behalf of state and local candidates this election cycle, with a strong focus on the Governor’s race. They will work closely with grassroots community leaders, local elected officials, and other partner organizations to empower, engage, and mobilize BIPOC voters during the 2022 election campaign. Creative thinkers with deep connections to the communities they will be organizing in are what we’re looking for in this position.

Location: Minneapolis-St. Paul

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Lead and execute a coalition-focused outreach plan, engaging community leaders in urban, and rural populations.
  • Build partnerships and facilitate meetings with allied organizations and community leaders
  • Filter and prioritize political/engagement scheduling requests
  • Create weekly political reports to the Engagement and Coalitions Director.
  • Staff political events throughout the state as needed
  • Maintain and build organized lists of contacts at the state and local levels.
  • Provide context for memos and briefings for principals and high-level surrogates.
  • Additional tasks as instructed by the Engagement and Coalitions Director.
  • Work with the Engagement & Coalitions Director to determine best practices in organizing specific communities across the state of Minnesota.
  • Host recurring meetings with community leaders across the state as well as local elected officials.

Qualifications summary

  • 1+ cycles of the campaign or related experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing racial justice and equity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work across lines of difference and build and maintain relationships with base communities
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments, flexibility, and familiarity with campaign hours and pressures
  • Detail-oriented
  • Access to a car

Compensation

Compensation is $4,000- 5,000 month, commensurate with experience.
