Minnesota GOP State Sen. Cal Bahr on why he opposes abortion: “If you’re going to party, you got to pay the consequences”
ST PAUL – Today, the Minnesota DFL Party released the following statement blasting newly surfaced remarks by Minnesota GOP State Senator Cal Bahr (R-East Bethel) in which Bahr states that he opposes abortion because “If you’re going to party, you got to pay the consequences.” The DFL also called on Minnesota GOP Chair David Hann to disavow the abhorrent remarks.
“Forcing women to carry unwanted pregnancies as a way of punishing them is ghoulish even by the standards of the Minnesota Republican Party,” said DFL Chair Ken Martin. “These remarks underscore that Minnesota Republicans are trying to ban abortion because they want to control women and impose their beliefs on them. I call on Minnesota GOP Chair David Hann to unequivocally disavow these abhorrent remarks.”
Republicans in multiple key districts that will determine control of the Minnesota Legislature – from St. Cloud to Hastings – have doubled down on anti-abortion extremism in their quest to regain control of state government.
