DNC Funds New DFL Campus and Apartments Organizing Program

Today, the Minnesota DFL Party is announcing that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has granted the state party’s request to provide funding for a new campus and apartments organizing program across the Twin Cities. The new investment comes as part of the DNC’s State Party Innovation Fund, which helps ensure innovation and early organizing by putting more boots on the ground throughout the country to help elect Democrats up and down the ticket in 2022.

The DFL’s new Apartments Director will work with and recruit volunteers to support door knocking in apartment buildings across the Twin Cities metro area. The Youth Director who will be tasked with turning out college and high school voters in urban and rural districts, including campuses like Mankato State, St. Cloud State, Winona State, Carleton College, and St. Olaf.

“The DNC is thrilled to invest in the organizing infrastructure and voter education work that will help DFL candidates make their case directly to young people living on college campuses throughout the state and voters living in every community in the Twin Cities,” said DNC Chair Jaime Harrison. “We look forward to working together to ensure we continue electing Democrats up and down ballots in Minnesota that will fight for working families, continue working to lower costs and grow the economy, and stand up for Minnesotans.”

“The DFL Party is pulling out all the stops to mobilize, engage, and turn out voters across Minnesota, and we are fortunate to have a partner in the DNC that shares our commitment to grassroots organizing. This investment from the DNC will expand our capacity to reach and engage young people on college campuses across Minnesota and voters who live in apartments and might take a bit of extra effort to contact,” said DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin. “Our party is working hard to put money in people’s pockets, lower costs for families, and build world-class public schools. That’s a message I’m eager to run on because I know it resonates with voters everywhere.”

In Minnesota, investment in growth communities to expand the Democratic advantage in early vote will be key in reelecting statewide office holders like Governor Walz as well as maintaining Democrats’ majority in the state House and flipping the state Senate to a DFL Majority.
