Recently, the Minnesota Reformer reported that workers on the Viking Lakes project were victims of substantial wage theft and abusive labor practices. DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin released the following statement:
“The recent reporting on wage theft allegations leveled against contractors for the Viking Lakes project is deeply troubling. These allegations must be thoroughly investigated, workers cheated of their rightful wages must be paid, and those responsible must be held accountable. The Wilf family must step up and make this right.
“Minnesotans know better than anyone that there is dignity in a hard day’s work, which is why we passed one of the toughest laws against wage theft in the country. However, it remains clear that more must be done to ensure workers are paid what they are owed and treated with the respect they deserve.”
