Brad Finstad Betrays His District During First Day on the Job

This morning, Congressman Brad Finstad was sworn in. Hours later, Finstad turned his back on his constituents by voting against the Inflation Reduction Act.

DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin released the following statement:

“During his first day on the job, Brad Finstad betrayed Southern Minnesota by voting against a bill to tame inflation and lower prescription drug prices for seniors. Finstad had the chance to serve his district, but he chose to defend Big Pharma and ultra-wealthy tax cheats instead.”

The Inflation Reduction Act will:

– Curb inflation by reducing the deficit, lowering health care prices, lowering energy prices by promoting renewable energy, and increasing tax fairness.

– Lower prescription drug prices by allowing Medicare to negotiate with drug companies for lower prices, capping out-of-pocket drug costs for Medicare beneficiaries, and preventing drug companies from hiking prices above the rate of inflation.

– Make the tax code more fair by enacting a 15% corporate minimum tax for big businesses that make at least $1 billion in profits annually, and giving the Internal Revenue Service the resources it needs to crack down on wealthy tax cheats.

– Create jobs, lower energy costs, and cut carbon emissions by 40% by boosting the domestic manufacturing of renewable energy.
