A Clear Choice: Angie Craig Stands Up for Minnesota Seniors While Tyler Kistner Stands Up for Drug Companies

While Rep. Angie Craig works to hold drug companies accountable and lower the cost of insulin and other life-saving medicines, Tyler Kistner is standing firm in his support for Big Pharma.

Last week, Rep. Craig convened Minnesota leaders and West St. Paul community members for a roundtable discussion about the need to lower prescription drug costs for Minnesota seniors and diabetes patients.

In March, the U.S. House of Representatives passed Rep. Craig’s historic legislation to cap the out-of-pocket cost of insulin at $35 per month. Rep. Craig has also led the charge to allow Medicare to negotiate prices with pharmaceutical companies –– a key component in the fight to bring medicine costs down for seniors.

Tyler Kistner voiced his opposition to lowering drug prices for seniors in an MPR News story published recently, specifically that he would have voted against Craig’s insulin bill and that he opposes efforts to strengthen Medicare and lower costs for seniors.

“Minnesota seniors living on a fixed income deserve better than Tyler Kistner’s thinly-veiled attacks on Medicare, all in an effort to line his campaign warchest with contributions from drug companies,” said DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin. “Since day one, Angie Craig has been holding Big Pharma’s feet to the fire and working to make prescriptions more affordable. Minnesotans have a clear choice in this election: Angie Craig who stands up for Minnesota seniors, or Tyler Kistner who stands up for drug companies.”
