Feminist Caucus
The 13 Basic Principles of the DFL Feminist Caucus are rooted in the Bill of Rights (with emphasis on the freedom of speech and of the press, and separation of church and state), the Equal Rights Amendment, human-rights legislation, the 1973 Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade, supporting feminists for elective and appointed office, the need for comprehensive child care, the need for comprehensive services for victims of domestic and sexual assault, support for research on contraception, and education about and access to birth control. The caucus actively supports only those candidates who support these principles. The caucus screens and endorses candidates for office, and works for our endorsed candidates at conventions and during campaigns.
